A very similar Kangxi blue and white `taperstick` from the Helena Woolworth McCann Collection, Purchase, Winfield Foundation Gift, 1970 (1970.266.3) is on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (On view in Gallery 201). It has been dated to c.1700-1710 and is described as being probably made for the Dutch market after a painted wood model, see http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/1970.266.3. The silver model this rare Kangxi porcelain candlestick was based on dates to the late 17th century, silver candlesticks of this form can be found in `toilet sets` of the period, they also appear in filigree silver.
