The Watney catalogue note states that "The pattern of two deer, derived from Chinese famille verte, also occurs on a Bottger porcelain bowl enamelled in Holland, which will be sold (I think they mean will be offered for sale) in our forthcoming sale of Meissen on 12 November. This implies a likely Dutch origin for this spoon tray, in spite of the use of opaque white enamel which usually suggests the work of an English china painter". The painting style looks Dutch and not English I feel, white enamel was used by the Dutch but somewhat sparingly. The English often used pink over white which blended to imitate early Chinese famille rose enamels, these was not a technique I think the Dutch used.
