Yongzheng or Qianlong Canton Enamel European Subject Bowl and Cover c.1730 – 1750.

A finely painted 18th century Canton enamel bowl and cover, Yongzheng or Qianlong c.1730-1750. The white ground decorated with a continuous Chinese -European type landscape with European figures. The bowl is decorated with an elegant woman and a man sitting at a Chinese table made of a tree stump with its roots showing. She is drinking and there is a beaker in front of him, to his right is a Chinese stand with a Chinese vase and bowl, below it is a pink ground wine jar and cover with two putti next to it. There is a group of of European buildings in the background. Under a tree is a well dressed European man with holding a long stemmed clay pipe, there are two other male figures near him. The cover is decorated in with a Chinese style landscape containing European buildings and a European ship.

In very good condition, there is a chip to the enamel on the cover and some stress cracks to the edge of the bowl in one area.
