Information

Lin Wasei :
The Song Dynasty Hermit and Sage Lin Wasai lived beside the Western Lake of Bulin. He had no family or wife, but became known as `Plum wife and crane child` from the two amiable eccentricities ; a fondness for floating about the lake to view plum blossom in early spring (he planted many trees for their blossom), and his habit of releasing two tame cranes to dance for visiting guests (information from the catalogue of The Peony Pavilion Collection ; Chinese Tea Ceramics for Japan (c.1580-1650).
