Information

Tiles like the present example were made in imitation of Dutch Delft pottery tiles. Chinese porcelain tiles were ordered by the V.O.C. as early as the 1640's for use at their trading port of Batavia, however the present example is of a more common type made somewhat later during the Kangxi period and dates to c.1690 - 1710.

For another Kangxi blue and white porcelain tile of this type see our blue and white Archive stock number 20726.
