A Rare Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain Ewer c.1690-1710. The Baluster Form Ewer, Probably a Coffee Pot, has an Unusual `Rope Twist` Handel and Spout. The Decoration of Peony is Rendered in the `Pencilled` Style (blue lines without the use of shading). The Cover with a Fu Dog is Probably Matched.
A section of the 'S' shaped bracket which supports the spout has been broken out, the brake starts from a firing crack near the body, the other end is situated under the curled 'S' on nearer the end of the spout. The spout and the handle have quite allot of fritting and staining under the glaze. The cover is probably matched but does not look out of place.
