SEVRES 1782. French Soft-Paste Porcelain

An 18th Century Sevres Porcelain Dish Decorated in the Neo-Classical Style. The Border with Pink Oval Panels with Pearls and a Roses to the Center, the Panels are Linked by Loose Swags of Roses Tied with Pink Bows. The Rest of the Decoration Consists of More Roses and Corn Flower within Laurel Wreath Borders. The Base with the Royal French Cypher, Interlaced LLs with ‘ee’ for 1782 and the Painter’s Mark ‘nq‘ for Niquet as well as the Mark of the Gilder Vincent ‘2000’.

Information

Gilded by Vincent, first name unknown, whose long career as a gilder at Sevres lasted from 1753 to 1806. He worked on the Catherine the Great service of 1781 as well as the Louis XVI service of 1792. This Sevres dish was painted by Niquet, first name unknown, who worked at Sevres from 1764 to 1792. Niquet was a painter of fruit and flowers. He also worked on the Catherine the Great service.
