SHINO WARE Japanese Pottery

An Early Shino Ware, Aka-Shino, Chawan (Bowl for Tea), Late Momoyama or Early Edo Period c.1600. The Regular Half Cylinder Shape, Hanzutsu, of this Chawan is Made from a Fine Mino Clay and Glazed with a Typical Feldspatic Glaze has a High Iron-Oxide Content. Deliberate Grey markings and Finger Prints are Clearly Visible to the Exterior.
