A Kangxi Porcelain plate. This late Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain plate was made for export to the West in the erly 18th century. The central geometric design uses lotus flowers arranged around a floral roundel, there are four lotus flowers seperated by stylised lotus with faces hidden in the design.
Condition: In very good condition, minor glaze chips, some fritting.

The words for lotus in Chinese has the same meaning as to bind, connect (in marriage). It is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism. It is the flower used to represent summer.
