A Rare 17th Century Japanese Porcelain Saucer Dish

c.1660

A rare early Japanese porcelain dish, Arita kilns c.1660. This small very finely potted moulded saucer shaped dish is decorated with flowering plants to the well. The cavetto is crisply moulded with ruyi-shaped panels. It is very thin and rather warped, it is especially finely potted for a moulded piece and the body is very white.

There is a fine star crack to the glaze at the back, this only shows in certain light - see the photograph of the back. There is also a tiny chip.
