JIN DYNASTY 1115 – 1234 or YUAN DYNASTY 1279 – 1368. Jiexiu Ware

A Jin or Yuan Jiexiu Ware Porcelain Bowl from the Jiexiu Kilns in Shanxi Province. Decorated with a Finley Moulded Design of Fish Among Waves, In the Centre of the Unglazed band is a Moulded Flower. The Rim bound in Copper.

As is typical of this ware and distinguishes it from the more common Huozhou, is that the piece has been stacked on an area in the center of the bowl wiped clean of glaze. Huozhou ware was supported on tiny kiln supports, the tips of these can sometimes be found embedded in pieces from this kiln.
