Information
Meissen Porcelain was made for many European royal families, especially the Queen of Sweden, the Elector of Cologne and the King of Denmark but numerous pieces of Meissen occur with Italian armorials. Pieces of Meissen Porcelain, like the present example, also occur with topographical Italian views, while some what fanciful they can include known Venetian buildings. The Meissen connection with Italy was probably inspired by the Crown Price of Saxony's Grand Tour of Italy between 1738 and 1740.
