A Pair of Large Fine Kangxi Famille Verte Porcelain Jars and Covers c.1690-1710.
A pair of large Kangxi porcelain Famille Verte jars and domed covers c.1690 – 1710. Well painted in bright Famille Verte enamels including overglaze blue. There are two panels showing river scenes and two with the ‘Hundred Antiques’ pattern . One of the landscape scenes. shows a promontory with buildings and a large watch tower keeping guard over the the entrance to the river, jagged mountains loom in the distance. In the foreground there is allot of activity with boats of various sizes and a fisherman. The other panel has a vast range of brightly coloured mountains in the mist with the foreground of small buildings on stilts along the waters edge. The panels are set against diaper patterns with Ruyi-Head emblems. The covers are with the are painted with the ‘Hundred Antiques’ pattern .

- Condition
- Both jars have two very small holes in the rim with corresponding holes in the covers. These must have been to accommodate metal mounts. One jar has a large 'Y' shape sealed crack. Both covers have been broken and repaired. The blue enamel is in very good condition with none of the often found flaking occurring.

Hundred Antiques :
The `Hundred Antiques` is a Pattern Comprising a Mixture of Either the `Eight Treasures` (pearl, lozenge, stone chime, rhinoceros` horn, coin, mirror, book, and leaf) and or `The Four Treasures`. The Later being the Symbols of the Four Arts (music, chess, calligraphy and painting). These Symbolic Depictions are Combined with Numerous Conventional Representations of Sacrificial Vessels, Flowers, Animals, as Well as Small Decorative Motifs.
Ruyi-Head :
The Ruyi-Head, that is the top of the sceptre which curves back over the main body is often modelled as a Lingzhi fungus cloud form. Lingzhi is the immorality fungus and Ruyi means 'may you have'.
