A Finely Painted Large Kangxi Famille Verte Dish, Kangxi c.1700. Decorated in Bright Enamels with the `Three Friends of Winter` within a Garden Landscape. The Border with Leaf Shaped panels Containing Birds Set Against a Seeded Ground with Red Trellis Pattern.
Condition: In excellent condition, some fritting - minor glaze chips. The enamels are rich, strong and unrubbed.

The Three Friends of Winter :
The `Three Friends of Winter` are known in Japan as Sho-Chiku-Bai. These three plants, Pine, Bamboo and Prunus, signify perseverance. Neither the Pine nor the Bamboo shed their leaves in winter and the Plum flowers at the very end of the winter, heralding the arrival of spring.
