NORTHERN SONG 960 – 1127 or Jin 1125 – 1234. Song Stoneware.

A Rare Northern Song or Jin Stoneware Bowl, Possibly Ding Type c.11th or 12th Century. The Exterior is Decorated with a Thick Lustrous Black Glaze over White Slip, the Interior is Slip Decorated and Glazed with a Creamy Transparent Glaze Pooling in the Well and Showing Some Crackling. The Rim has the Glaze Unevenly Wiped Clear Revealing the Cream Coloured Slip. The High Fired Body is of a Putty Colour and can be Seen in Places on the Exterior of the Rim.
