A 17th or 18th Century Japanese Porcelain Dish.
A late 17th or early 18th Century Japanese Blue and White Porcelain dish, Arita Kilns c.1680-1720. This thickly potted Japanese porcelain dish is painted with two standing egrets being mobbed by a third egret. A large part of the upper part of the design is taken up by a branch of a willow tree. The cavetto is of stylised clouds and the rim decoration is a geometric pattern against a blue ground. The back is also decorated with further stylised clouds, characters and the base has an apocryphal Ming mark, Jiajing (1522-1566).
