A Late Ming Kraak Ware Porcelain Dish

Late Ming, Wanli to Chongzhen c.1610 - 1630

A Late Ming Kraakware saucer Shaped Dish c.1610 – 1630. The center of the dish, decorated in inky blue cobalt, is decorated with a grasshopper on a rock next to a flowering peony. The cavetto of this thickly potted Kraak porcelain dish has ten peach shaped panels filled with flowers, peaches and auspicious objects. The base has clear chatter marks and quite allot of grit adhering to the glaze. The grit was used to stop the piece sticking in the glaze firing.
