A Tang Dynasty Pottery Jar

A Small Tang Pottery, possibly from a Kiln in Hebei Province, 7th or 8th Century. The bulbous form is constructed of white clay, most of the body is covered in a white slip some of this exposed as the glaze deliberately falls short. The join between the neck and the shoulder of the jar is quite visible.

- In very good condition. There are small glaze bubbles filled with soil and soil staining to the lower unglazed section as well as the flat unglazed base. It is slightly off-potted so if it is tapped it wobbles.

- Height 12.8 cm (5 inches).

- From a Private London Collection of Early Chinese Ceramics, formed between c.1970-1990.
