A Tang Dynasty Pottery Jar

Tang Dynasty 618 - 906

A Small Tang Pottery, possibly from a Kiln in Hebei Province, 7th or 8th Century. The bulbous form is constructed of white clay, most of the body is covered in a white slip some of this exposed as the glaze deliberately falls short. The join between the neck and the shoulder of the jar is quite visible.

In very good condition. There are small glaze bubbles filled with soil and soil staining to the lower unglazed section as well as the flat unglazed base. It is slightly off-potted so if it is tapped it wobbles.
Height 12.8 cm (5 inches).
From a Private London Collection of Early Chinese Ceramics, formed between c.1970-1990.
