An Unusual 17th Century Japanese Porcelain Dish

An Unusual late 17th Century Japanese Blue and White Porcelain Dish, Arita Kilns, Enpô 延宝 era (1673 – 1681) or Genroku (元禄) . This unusual dish depicts a warbler bird at night on a branch of a prunus tree with enormous snowflakes surrounding the bird. The back is decorated with a continuous scrolling flower design. There are also four spur-marks, indicating where the dish was supported in the firing, the footrim has iron-oxide that has come from the clay to the surface during firing. The glaze has a blue-green tint.

In excellent condition, some minor scratches, some crazing and discoloured pin-holes in the glaze.
