An Unusual Kangxi Blue and White Teapot
An Unusual Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain Teapot c.1690-1700. This low hexagonal teapot clearly inspired by European metal prototypes is very similar to examples recovered from the Vung Tau Cargo of c.1690-1700 (Christie’s Amsterdam, April 1992) see below for an example from Christie’s. The present example has a low looped handle and a small faceted spout. The decoration is of flowering plants and insects.
- In very good condition. Typical friting to the shape edges. Firing crack to the interior.
