ARITA c.1730 – 1750 Japanese Porcelain

An 18th Century Japanese Porcelain Model of a Carp Leaping the Lungmen Falls, Arita Kilns c.1730-1750. Made From a Two Piece Mould, the Tail and Fins were Made Separately and Luted to the Body. The Carp is Depicted in a Dynamic Pose Bent at the Tail Forcing the Body Upwards, Open Mouthed with it`s Barbles Pushed Back to it`s Eyes it is Clearly Struggling. It is Decorated in Underglaze Blue, Pale Iron-Oxide, Red and Gold.
