An unusual Kangxi porcelain teapot decorated in Famille Verte enamels c.1700. The drum form body of this Chinese export has a rope twist handle and spout. The flat cover is decorated with four ‘Precious Objects’ tied with red ribbons, like some other pieces of Kangxi Famille Verte Porcelain the finial is decorated in underglaze blue whereas the body has overglaze blue enamel. The finial is moulded in the shape of a Fu dog (Buddhist Lion). One side of the teapot is decorated in the Japanese style with an interpretation of a banded hedge.

Condition
Good, there is a shallow flake chip under the end of the spout, this is primarily glaze c.4 x 4mm. Minor fritting to the handle and spout. Firing crack to the base.
