Information
Tiles like the present example were made in imitation of Dutch Delft pottery tiles. Chinese porcelain tiles were ordered by the V.O.C. as early as the 1640`s for use at their trading port of Batavia, however the present example is of a more common type made somewhat later during the Kangxi period and dates to c.1690 - 1710.
