Late 17th or Early 18th Century Japanese Porcelain Dish

c.1680 - 1710

An Unusual Late 17th or Early 18th Century Japanese Porcelain Dish, Arita Kilns c.1680 – 1710. This small dish shows different coloured prunus flowers, with two depicted from the side. Perhaps they are swirling into a vortex, hinted at with fine varied blue lines. These lines and the shape of the dish adds movement to this quitely dramatic design. The back has a stylised interlocking flowering foliage design. The base has a small seal mark, with a single spur mark. This small kiln support was insufficient, so the center is rather uneven.
