A Fine Late Ming or Very Early Qing Dynasty Blanc de Chine Porcelain Figure, Chongzhen or Early Shunzhi Period, Fujian Kilns, Dehua Province c.1630 to 1650. The Figure Depicted is Probably Wen Qiang, God of Literature or a Sage. The Figure is Depicted in a Seated Position in a Scholars Cap and Large Cloak.

Information
This fine heavily potted figure is typical of good quality late Ming blanc de chine porcelain. There is a lot of hand applied detail, for example the subtly incised beard. The colour is a rich warm white which is typical of the period.
