Small Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain Box and Cover

Small Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain Box and Cover c.1700. This small very shallow seal-paste box and cover is decorated using deep tones of cobalt blue, the colour hasn’t smudge but it has the appearance of floating within the glaze. It is more than an appearance, cobalt raises up into the glaze upon firing, in cross-section the glaze is coloured through. This geometric pattern is probably based on North Indian designs.
