YONGZHENG 1723 – 1735 Chinese Export Porcelain
A Rare Chinese Export Porcelain Plate. The Polychrome Decoration Could be Described as a Version of Famille Noire. The Central Scene of Two Cockerels in Pink on Blue Rocks Near a Gnarled Flowering Tree is Framed by a Black Ground with a Red and Blue Border. The Black Ground has Gold and Oxidised Silver Cartouches and Flower-Head Designs.

This highly unusual plate must have been expensive to produce, not only were the materials expensive but they were also difficult to work with. The painting is of a high standard and has been achieved without the use of outlines as one would expect to find.
